Facial rejuvenation refers to cosmetic treatments that restore a more youthful quality to the face. Surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures can restore skin tone, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, and restore lost volume caused by aging. Dr. Baker offers various facial rejuvenation treatments to restore softness and youthfulness to the face.
Candidates for facial rejuvenation procedures must be in overall good health and have realistic expectations. The best candidates will have experienced one or more of the following:
- Loss of facial volume
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sagging skin
- Age spots
- Changes in skin tone or texture
During your consultation, Dr. Baker will evaluate your skin and facial features and advise you on what rejuvenation treatment(s) will be best for you. Using his skills, experience, and expertise, Dr. Baker will devise a customized treatment plan to provide you with the best results possible. Depending on the treatments you will receive, he will also counsel you on how best to prepare for your facial rejuvenation procedure.
Non-Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Procedures
Many facial rejuvenation treatments are non-surgical, which can improve the appearance of the face with minimal to no downtime for recovery.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a neurotoxin that is FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe frown lines and crow’s feet. This injectable temporarily inhibits the contraction of muscles in the treated areas, preventing wrinkles from developing. By softening the look around the eyes, BOTOX® Cosmetic can take years off a patient’s appearance. Results last for three to six months, at which point many patients return for touch-up treatments.
Facial fillers include injectables such as Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® that are used to treat facial lines or volume deficiencies. Facial fillers have the ability to effectively treat smile lines, lines around the eyes and forehead, and volume loss. Results are temporary but long-lasting, and positive results can be maintained with touch-up treatments.
Surgical Facial Rejuvenation Procedures
Other facial rejuvenation procedures are surgical in nature. Surgical treatments require a ten-day recovery period but can offer even more dramatic facial rejuvenation.
Facelift and Neck Lift
When sagging skin and wrinkles are more prominent, they cause the face to look prematurely aged. With a facelift and neck lift, Dr. Baker tightens and smooths the skin, creating firm and toned facial contours. By also tightening the underlying facial muscles, a natural and refreshed looking result is obtained.
Depending on how your upper face has aged, a lateral brow lift may provide significant positive results. Dr. Baker elevates the lateral brow line to restore the upper face and eye area and provide a more refreshed appearance. Dr. Baker will first recommend BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments to enhance the brow line. Then, if more significant changes are necessary, Dr. Baker will perform a brow lift.
In some cases, eyelid surgery may be necessary to rejuvenate the face. Dr. Baker can perform upper eyelid surgery to remove excess skin from the upper lid, lower eyelid surgery to eliminate bags under the eyes, or both to improve their overall appearance.
Fat Transfer for Optimal Facial Rejuvenation
If you, like many patients, have experienced facial volume loss, Dr. Baker performs fat transfer for facial rejuvenation, typically at the time of facelifting. He will extract fat cells from your stubborn fat deposits, usually the hips, and then strategically reinject them into your face around the eyes, temples, cheeks, and lips. The reinjected fat will restore youthful volume and significantly improve your facial contour and appearance.
